New specification 700g Javelins

Following a review by World Athletics, a ‘grace period’ of 7 months from 1 April 2025 to 31 October 2025 will be introduced in which both types of 700g javelins (i.e. the javelins compliant with the current specifications and the javelins compliant with the new specifications) may be used, including within the same competition. During this period, there is no need to indicate in the results lists which type of javelin has been used. As of 1 November 2025, only the new javelin may be used in competition.
